M32 Gearbox

The M32 gearbox suffers bearing failure, the earlier this is caught the cheaper it is to fix. All parts are available for this gear box but it is impossible to quote until the gearbox has been removed from the vehicle and dismantled.

If we are doing a clutch replacement it is a good idea to remove the end casing from the gearbox and check the condition of the bearings and replace if necessary.

We recommend using Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75w-80 gear oil which is available on our shop

We charge £65 inc VAT to change the gearbox oil in our workshop.

There is a Quaife ATB QDH25B limited differential available which transforms the vehicles handling, reduces under steer and gives more stability on slippery road surfaces.

Quaife ATB fitted from £750 inc VAT using Fuchs Titan Sintofluid 75w-80 gear oil.

Quaife ATB also available supplied in kit form £660 inc VAT (excludes gear oil)

Alfa's fitted with this gearbox include:

  • Early Mito's 1.4 TB etc.
  • 159 1.9 JTD's & Others
  • This gear box is also found in many Vauxhall cars.

C635 Gearbox

This is the latest generation of Alfa gearboxes and they suffer very much like the M32 gearbox from bearing failure. We are currently working on a fix for this. News to follow.

There is a Quaife ATB QDH7E limited differential available which transforms the vehicles handling. This was developed by Quaife in conjunction with us and is only available from Autolusso.

Quaife ATB also available in kit form on our shop  £660 inc VAT (excludes gear oil)

Alfa's fitted with this gearbox include:

  • Late Mito's
  • Giulietta 2.0 JTD & 1750 QV

C630 6 Speed V6/JTD Gearbox

The Alfa Romeo 6 speed gearbox can suffer from differential (diff) failure which often punches a hole in the gearbox through to the clutch. On some occasions the clutch fails and punches part of the clutch through the gearbox casing into the differential causing the gearbox to fail.

Alfa's fitted with this gearbox include:

  • Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6 & 3.2 GTA (& Selespeed)
  • Alfa Romeo 147 3.2 GTA & 1.9 JTD 16v
  • Alfa Romeo GT 1.9 JTD & 3.2 V6
  • Alfa Romeo GTV 3.0 & 3.2
  • Alfa Romeo 166 2.5, 3.0 & 3.2

Many people choose to fit a Quaife differential which will prevent the failure.

F40 Gearbox

The F40 gearbox tends to be a very strong gearbox but on rare occasions do fail. The gearbox needs to be removed and stripped to quote on rebuilding.

There is a Quaife ATB QDH21B limited differential available which transforms the vehicles handling, reduces under steer and gives more stability on slippery road surfaces.

Quaife differential

  • Quaife fitted to a car in situ from £750
  • Quaife fitted to a supplied gearbox £700
  • Full gearbox rebuild and Quaife following diff failure  from £1200 (exchange or supplied gearbox)

Many customers have their local garage remove their gearbox and we organise a courier to collect the gearbox and bring it to us where we rebuild it, fit the Quaife and courier it back to the garage. We can organise this from any country.

It is the responsibility of the garage or person fitting the gearbox to ensure that the oil is added as the gearbox will be shipped dry.

To remove the gearbox from the car, rebuild the gearbox fitting a Quaife differential and refitting is from £1,500, it is often a good idea to replace the clutch if this work is being carried out (this excludes the Alfa Romeo 166).

Warranty

With our rebuilt gearboxes we offer a 12,000 mile or 12 month warranty, which ever comes first. Oil levels must be checked regularly as oil starvation will void the warranty.
